A couple days in the shop with the welder, saws and wrenches and the first tow scooter prototype is ready for trials. 1,000' of spectra line, drogue parachute and an ATV winch fairlead paired with a wrecked scooter I found on Craigslist and we've got ourselves a portable training hill that works whichever way the wind is blowing. Next up is a trip to the training field for some abusive testing pulling skiers around in the powder to see how much this thing can handle. I know it sounds like more goofing around but this is serious work!

Using a wrecked salvage scooter as the core engine platform to build a custom portable paragliding tow winch is an incredibly creative piece of garage engineering. Repurposing the scooter’s stock drivetrain to spin a custom spool with a thousand feet of spectra line requires serious welding skills and mechanical ingenuity. Personally, I love seeing unique DIY modifications that breathe new life into old, broken-down two-wheelers. Did the factory CVT transmission handle the heavy tension well during your initial field trials?
